It was a pain to draw, but luckily, I had a good reference, a picture of a brooch in the same style in a book I have, "The Cultural Atlas of the Viking World". This style is called Urnes style, the very last style of the Viking art styles. Here's a link, it on the wall of a Stave Church here in Norway:
